I had my bushings checked, rear door latches replaced.....finally got underneath as my buddy bounced up and down on the rear. It was the **** spare tire! Lower it, look at where the cable connects to the end piece. You'll see friction marks where it contacts the " dock" in the fully tightened position. Grease the contact points, and 2 other spots where the spare contacts the underside. Be sure the spare is super snug underneath and the spring in the center of the spare is fully depressed! It's a 2 person job. Took me 12k miles and 3 trips to the dealer for ME to finally figure it out....been 2 weeks and no more squeak!

Got an estimate today from local dealer to repair squeak on my 2014 (that just started after some dirt road miles). Was told I need new 4 new bushing AND leaf springs for about $1200 installed (warranty expired)!!! I asked how much just the bushings (parts only) would cost: <$100 for all four.

So, if the spare tire cable lube - as mentioned above - does not fix it then I will look into doing bushings only. Has anyone done this themselves?

Was in Portland OR so I had a spring specialist there take a look at the unbearable squeak and they found bushings needed replacement ($500). All good now. And a lot less $$ than my local dealer had proposed.

Interestingly, when I first visited the spring shop I told them I needed new tires and he told me not to go cheap. So I installed new Michelin Defenders before the bushing replacement -- and he was correct - the ride was so much better it actually reduced the squeak a good bit.

The only time my 14 PM has squeaked was in climbing into the Va. mountains on a slow twisty road. Reminded me of a bearing squeal. I figured the side loads caused it. Otherwise, no issues. The hatches squeak when its really cold out. But I consider that normal in a big twisty box with large openings and rubber gaskets.

The slider squeaketh at the plastic pin/socket alignment points - a teeny bit of teflon grease applied once has shut mine up for over three years...

I can't speak of the rear axle noise - I' ve avoided driving in 99.9% of ice melt road salt weather and no noise is good noise, so far...

My rear leaf spring bushings started squeaking recently. I've tried various lubricants and although some of them helped a little, it just washes off on wet roads so still occasionally squeaks. Was going to remove the bolts and lower the springs to do a proper lube with waterproof grease but don't have a socket for the torx bolts there. Anyone know what size they are?

The reason I asked is that I don't really want to buy a the whole large-size torx socket set. My 19mm 6-sided impact socket fits over the bolt snugly so thinking E18 or E20 torx? The 19mm socket fits tight enough I may give that a try. Thunder now so will have to wait...

This is the bolt but no size specified.

I looked back as someone has posted this but for the life of me I can’t find it. I remember E20 but I hate to mislead. I’d get that from a open stock store like Sears used to be and return it if it didn’t fit.
