Which one of the following models woulds be better for fuel economy and getting the most kms? The 2014 Dodge Pronmaster will be coming with 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 or a 3.0-litre I-4 Turbo EcoDiesel. Which one is best for power and efficiency?

Hard to compare the two engines of the dodge Promaster at the moment. No word on how much mpgs the 3.0L in line four turbo diesel gets. But the petrol engine the penstar 3.6L v6 will be promising a 25mpg. Does anybody know or have a link to the diesel engine expected mpgs?

It doesnt make sense to compare mpg of a diesel to a gasoline engine because gas prices for the two are completely different.

True, though cost isn't anything. Some people would also take C02 emissions into account. And mpg is important for those who don't want to continually gas up all the time when doing their runs.

As it stands, the non diesel can get around 25 mpg. I haven't read anything about how much mpg the diesel offers yet.

The Ram ProMaster diesel is the same as the Fiat Ducato. The mpg is at 38.2

Additionally, the turbocharged diesel will produce 174 hp (130 kW) at 3600 rpm and 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) of torque at 1400 rpm.

The diesel will always get better MPG. The diesel is not a bad option. Depends what you want - torque or horsepower.

Ultimately, horsepower usually is something to look at but in the trucking industry torque speaks louder than horsepower. For the duties and purpose of this type of vehicle the Promaster is a commercial cargo van, so torque is equally important. But for the two different models of the Promaster it will depend on how you use it, highway or city, mileage and distance. This will all play a factor in choosing which Promaster is the most suitable for you.
