There are many times when I need to charge my phone or earpiece when I'm working on the job but since it's only on when the van is running, I can't...seems silly but it is what it is.

Has anyone figured out an easy way to wire it always on? I'm not much when it comes to electrical mods but maybe someone's figured out a way to do it...thx!

Very simple wiring to achieve what you need. Watch some Youtube vids on basic 12 volt wiring.

Buy an add a fuse, found at any auto store, walmart, amazon, then find a fuse in the fuse panel (where your left shin is when sitting on the driver side) that is always on. A simple way to figure that out is with a 12V circuit tester (youtube to see how one works) or a multimeter. Find a ground or grounding point for the USB outlet. Get about 5-10ft of 16awg primary wire (pref red and black for color coding positive and negative) and you are good to go.

Here are some links:
Add a fuse: https://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-BP-HHH-ATM-Add-A-Fuse/dp/B000GKEXK2
Circuit testers: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-6-12V-Circuit-Tester-Industrial/dp/B003UHNMMS
USB Port: https://www.amazon.com/LiDiVi-Water...id=1483197963&sr=1-24&keywords=12v+usb+outlet

I havent used that USB port, so choose one to your liking. Nice thing about that one is it has a voltmeter, which will give you an idea of your battery level.

Attention newbies! There are two google search buttons on the top right side of the forum.

Just about anything you may want to know about your Promaster has already been covered in these threads and you can easily find them by using those buttons!

I know of at least two perhaps three threads on this very topic that have been covered extensively. Don't waste your time and others before doing a search. You may be pleasantly surprised, if not, then ask for detailed instruction and many here will be more than happy to help you.

For example a quick search for cigarette lighter brought up all these threads on the forum related to your question

No feathers ruffled, Indy. New members don't always realize what a vast amount of info has been posted here to help them and when they search they find far more than they expect typically.

As always, a search by new members (and old) always brings many surprises and solutions. Google is OUR friend ;)

I put one of the meter/usb port units in recently. It works well but the display is not as bright as it appears in the pictures. Still useful as is for a quick look at the volts!

And for the original poster, if you need on-with-van 12V power at the dash, try this:
