Oil & Filter Recommendations - synthetic ? for Gas Engine

I've always used Mobil 1 synthetic for my Mercedes. Is that oil recommended for the Promaster ? or just stick to the recommended oil in manual. Also, any particular filter better that others? Thanks

Just use syn Pennzoil (watch for rebates) and a Mopar oil filter with the newest p/n.

I think Walmart is $25/5qt - $2/qt rebate = why bother looking elsewhere

I picked up a few bottles of Pennzoil Ultra Premium full synthetic 5w20 for around 24 on Prime. And a few of the AC filters.

I also got a few test kits from Blackstone for used oil testing.

They claim that Penzoil synthetic 5W20 is all you should use and it’s usually on sale. Personally I doubt that the Mobil 1 5W20 synthetic will ruin your engine but perhaps they haven’t paid FCA to gain their recommendation so they aren’t on the "approved" list unless they have been recently added.

Most likely do to the fact that syn does not have the paraffin that dino oil has. It's the paraffin that burns and turns black the soot adds a protective coating.
