Swap Fixed Slide Door Window For CRL Vented?

Hi folks.

I'm trying to swap our fixed window on the passenger slide door for a vented option. We're getting conflicting info from both CR Lawrence Documentation and DK Hardware reps? Some say NO and others say Yes?

Has anyone swapped out the standard fixed window for a FW395R vented window from CR Lawrence.

Thanks in advance, Paul

Welcome to the forum.
Have you done a youtube search about removing the side slider window?
I remember seeing a video, viewed so many before installing my CRL vented side window, could not tell you where I saw it, about removing the stock window.
Love my new window btw.
Remember guys using a hot wire to get old window out. Took a bit of effort. Probably worth it.

As far as removing the stock glued on window, a local glass place removed mine with a wire, not hot, just a wire that they used to "saw" thru the adhesive. At the top corners, there are two plastic clips that velcro to the window, and two velcro tabs at the bottom corners that pop out when you remove the factory window. The black strip you see is the remaining adhesive which is cleaned before the new window is glued in.

I had mine removed to replace it with a CRL glued in window (to match the tinting of the other CRLs I installed).

(2014 glued in factory slider door window available for sale if anyone is interested ! )

I believe that the issue with replacing that window with a CRL clamp on version is that the factory cut hole is not the same as the one needed for the clamp ring of the CRL. Question is: is the hole bigger or smaller than the hole required by the clamp on CRL vented version?

YMMV
I made a template of the new window using the trim ring. Used a Sharpie to trace it out. The lines matched up pretty well with the inner. But I had no old window. Cut out the center brace with a cutoff saw. Then went at it with a reciprocal saw. Finished up with a 4" grinder and painted the edge.
Window fits well.

RP,

The original post concerns a slider that already has a glued in window, so there is a hole already there... depending on how the factory cut hole matches up with the CRL-required clamp ring hole, there may or may not be an issue.

Adding a new window to a blank piece of metal is a different story!
