Volkswagen Vans

We recently where on vacation in Mexico and saw a lot of large VW Vans, diesels, looked pretty much identical to the Mercedes Sprinter.
Are they the same as a Sprinter....any chance they will come to the US? Still prefer Promaster (currently have a City...shopping for a full size).

MBZ builds the full size VW van on the same assembly line as the Sprinter. The only real difference is the front end sheet metal , VW drivetrain, badging, tail lights and (probably) dashboard. The bodies are the same other than bolt on trim, etc. They have been building them for VW for years and I don't think you can ever expect to see any here (legally). I assume they also rust out just as fast as the Sprinters

So I assume most think the Promaster is still the best bet for a commercial van. My Mercedes dealer has about 10 Sprinters on the lot and the Ram commercial dealer that used to have 6-10 Promaster has only 1.
Whats the deal?

I don't think you will find many Promaster owners wanting to go back to a Sprinter!
